If you are planning on taking a
Cambodia vacation the key advice for what to take is PACK LIGHT. It is unlikely that you will be spending two weeks in one place and will be doing a fair bit of the
Cambodia travel experience so you will have to carry everything, and it can get very hot!
Firstly, think about what kind of travel bag you will use. I tend to avoid backpacks or rucsacs for two reasons, firstly, they encourage you to fill them up and secondly, they are a bit messy. The ideal travel pack can be carried on a shoulder strap, by hand grips or on your back as well. The overall shape will be pretty smooth on the outside – the straps for the back pack will zip away, the shoulder strap can be removed etc. A small day bag will be useful too – but not too big – the more you can fill it, the heavier it will get.
Collect up what you want to take. Take a good look at the pile and ask yourself, for each item – do I REALLY need this. For example, why take an alarm clock if your wristwatch or mobile ‘phone has that function. A mega sized tube of toothpaste that would last a month is twice as much as you need for a two week trip. For clothing, think light and washable. Don’t take too much; you should be able to get laundry done very easily and cheaply. Some of the clothing can be bought very cheaply there, for example, hat, scarf, t-shirts.
Essential items include a money belt, small notebook and ball point pen, your chargers – if you are taking a mobile ‘phone or camera, sunscreen, insect repellent, power adapter if you are taking electronics, a book to read and a travel guide. A useful addition would be a small kit of washing power and a nylon thin rope or travel washing line to wash clothes in case of emergency – they will dry very quickly. Have a great trip – enjoy your Cambodia travel.
